Hello JoeyB. wow. i have been on a statin for at least five years. first diagnosed due to high triglycerides and cholesterol levels. i had a heart attack in June 2007 (age 47) and was rushed to surgery to have a stent placed in my heart. i continued on Lipitor until January 31, 2009. on February 4, 2009 i had to undergo triple by-pass heart surgery. i only have an ejection fraction of 28%. I have been placed on Crestor since my surgery. (i must admit i have been hiv pos since 1991) after my surgery i was suddenly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. (not yet insulin dependent) i also suffer from chronic kidney disease which is being monitored closely. they have just increased my high blood pressure medicine to help my kidneys. not sure how statins may or may not have contributed to some of this. God Bless.
